Hopeful

against all odds...

Hopeful

Throughout the history of the United States, Native Americans have endured brutal hardships: broken treaties, forced migrations, rampant diseases and plagues and yes even a genocidal policy by the U.S. government. Despite it all, they have kept their culture alive and are slowly gaining awareness and respect (Indigenous People’s Day, etc.).

Like a previous vocal tune of mine: "We Wonder Why?"— although tinged with sadness, there's a sense underlying optimism and hopefulness in this instrumental.

Note: The photos above are from a collection of Native American photos by Edward Curtis.

About the Music:

Noodling on a simple progression of Gm7 to Csus2(no third) on a patch on my new synth rackmount (a Roland JV-1080) gave birth to this lovely tune. It features the Gm Red Cedar Native American flute.
