Tirawa

Three Native American Flutes!

Rich Coffey ยท Tirawa

"While I stood there, I saw more than I can tell, and I understood more than I saw; for I was seeing in a sacred manner the shapes of things in the spirit, and the shape of all shapes as they must live together like one being." - Black Elk Speaks

Tirawa

In Pawnee mythology, Tirawa (often translated as "Our Father Above" or "Great Spirit") was the creator god. He was believed to have given the Pawnee people various skills and knowledge, including agriculture, fire-building, and religious rituals. His wife was Atira, the goddess of the Earth. (see Atira - another Vision Quest tune)

About the Music:

The brisk opening percussion groove was recorded by simply

  1. Tapping on a small pill bottle!
  2. Blowing into a spritzer top
  3. Tapping on my plywood synth stand

Both the Contrabass Native American flute and the Am Native American flute share the lead and the Am Double Native American flute takes the solo on the long fade out. The additional tracks are the acoustic guitar, acoustic bass and strings.
