Moon Over Midnight

Oh there's a moon over midnight and a chill in the air
A faint distant rumble can be heard everywhere.
Near two flickering candles on a small grassy hill
Lies a body in shadows laying so peaceful and still.

Dreaming comes so vividly every night at this hour
Strange and haunting visions come to life with her power
An image of the future all her dreams can foresee
Capturing a moment that might soon come to be.

There's a soft sound of chanting near a old wooded lot
And on an edge near a clearing hangs a rope in a knot.
For a brief fleeting instant there's a face filled with pain
But its gone in a flash of lightening and the onset of rain.

"I beg of you please stop it" those were his words
But was it really in her dream -- the voice that she heard?
Awakened in a pool of sweat she was startled to see
Peering in her window, the same face staring hopelessly
Trembling with fear she knew his fate was in her sight
But he quickly turned and faded into the darkness of the night
