Dritwood

Driftwood

angst on aging...

Always on the go... movin' with the flow
Restless, searchin' for a taste of something new
Weathered ups and downs... never shown a frown
But time has slowly worn away a part of you.

Through sand and surf the silver driftwood glide
Tossed by the waves, caught with the rising tide
Lost in a world of endless sea and sky
While another year slowly slips on by.

Driftin' with the wind... without start or end
Ride the feelin' let the moment take you higher
Livin' out of time... washed and worn with lines
Never stop until you've found your heart's desire.

Through sand and surf the silver driftwood glide
Tossed by the waves, caught with the rising tide
Lost in a world of endless sea and sky
As another year slowly slips on by.

Without roots your destiny is to explore
Cast adrift imagination let's you soar.

By water borne, through wind and storm, twisted and worn, your roots are torn...
forever... just floatin' free
On waves you ride, pushed far and wide the currents are your only guide...
together... one with the sea
Caught in the flow... you never know where next you'll go, you take it slow...
and easy... you don't care
Out on your own, all alone, without a home and on the roam...
a gypsy... bound to nowhere

Comments:
One New's Years Day, feeling a little saddened by the inevitable march of time, I thought of the metaphor of a driftwood being cast about by the sea, slowly wearing away but -- at the same time -- gaining a unique weathered beauty all it's own...
