All In Your Eyes

don't be so shy...

Rich Coffey · All In Your Eyes

Don't know why but it feels like you're trying
To act as if you don't care
But in your heart there can be no denying
Don't try to hide
It's in your eyes
If what you feel is real
Then why not deal with how you feel inside

Turn your head just pretend you're not hearing
Like you done before
But how much longer can you still be fearing
What's there inside
Behind your eyes
If what you feel is real
Then why not deal with how you feel inside

Can't you see there is someone who's waiting
For the love in your heart
Open up... there's no time for delaying
What's there inside
Behind your eyes
If what you feel is real
Then why not deal with how you feel inside
It's all in your eyes...

Comments:
It's hard to believe—I wrote this tune way back in 1983 and never recorded it! The chart I found was written in ink (Chart »). Back then was when I did a bit of pen and ink copy work for off-broadway shows—long before music transcribing was done by computer (these days I use Finale). In 2025, I finally got around to recording it and updated the song by adding the instrumental bridge section and the last verse.

Musically, the groove is a Brazilian Baião and the trombone riffs somewhat emulate the style of the great horn parts written by James Pankow for Chicago (yeah—I loved that band—especially the first few albums!).
