Drops

Questions Unresolved...

From pieces unrelated, a pattern created...

There's a drop from the recent rain
Beaded up on a window pane
Watch it glisten as the sun begins to shine

There's a leaf falling from the trees
Gently spun by a summer breeze
As if dancing to a rhythm out of time

Each ingredient has its complement
From pieces unrelated a pattern created
But does the end begin again and how do you fit in?
Questions unresolved...

There's a dad with his little boy
Both are laughing, moments full of joy
Soon each person passing by returns the smile

There's a river flowing to the sea
Every drop blended equally
Nourishing all it touches like a child

Each ingredient has its complement
From pieces unrelated a pattern created
But does the end begin again and how do you fit in?
Questions unresolved...

Through the curtains penetrate beams of sun in concentrate
The shafts of dusty light reflect all the musty room's neglect
Drifting patterns on the wall, shifting voices in the hall
Blend together without end and then begin again...

Patterns on the wall...
Questions unresolved...

Comments:
One of my all time favorites, inspired by a moment on the street with my son! Straight-ahead mellow pop hook counter-balances breadth of lyric: "Zen thoughts on recurring patterns and the circular nature of things"
