Blue Planet

"Suddenly, from behind the rim of the moon, in long, slow-motion moments of immense majesty, there emerges a sparkling blue and white jewel, a light, delicate, sky-blue sphere laced with slowly swirling veils of white, rising gradually like a small pearl in a thick sea of black mystery. It takes more than a moment to fully realize this is Earth ... our home. My view of our planet was a glimpse of divinity."
- Edgar Mitchell (Lunar Module Pilot of Apollo 14)

About the Music
Although originally intended for the Gm Native American flute, I decided to feature a composite patch of the D-550 and the JV-880 to play the melody instead. The tune was inspired by a lovely pseudo-Rhodes patch on the JV-1080 (and the simple chord progression of Gm7 to Eb6).

Who was Edgar Mitchell ?

Edgar Mitchell was the sixth person to walk on the Moon. He served as Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 14, landing with Shepard aboard the Lunar Module Antares on February 5, 1971, in the hilly upland Fra Mauro Highlands region of the Moon. They stayed on the Moon for 33 hours, deployed and activated lunar surface scientific equipment and experiments, and collected almost 100 pounds of lunar samples for return to Earth. He was a controversial figure. Read Details
